WHAT WE DO

What we fix, install, and replace

Every plumbing job in your house, under one license and one phone number. No subcontractors handed your address. No "we'll send someone out" that turns into a stranger in your driveway.

  • Leak Detection & Repair Hidden leaks behind walls, slab leaks, pinhole copper, dripping fixtures. We find it before we cut.
  • Faucets & Toilets Replace a leaky kitchen faucet or swap a 30-year-old toilet for a low-flow that actually flushes.
  • Garbage Disposals Jammed, humming, leaking from the bottom. Repair or replace, usually same day.
  • Gas Lines New runs for ranges, dryers, fireplaces, and generators. Licensed for natural gas and propane in CT.
  • Whole-House Repipes Galvanized to PEX or copper. Done in stages so the water never goes off for more than an afternoon.
  • Sump Pumps Install, replace, battery backup. Critical in Pomfret and Woodstock basements that flood every March.
  • Sewer Line Repair Camera inspection, spot repair, full replacement. Trenchless where the yard allows.
  • Water Shutoffs & Valves Old gate valves that won't close, frozen mains, hose-bib replacements before winter.
DIAGNOSTIC

Signs it's time to call

Most plumbing problems start as a whisper. A faucet that drips at 3 a.m. A toilet that runs for ten seconds every twenty minutes. A wet spot on the basement floor that “must be condensation.” By the time it gets loud, the repair has doubled.

If any of these sound familiar, get on the phone. We’ll tell you over the call whether it’s a thirty-dollar washer or something that needs a truck.

  • Water bill jumped 20% with no change in usage (hidden leak, almost always)
  • Sewer smell in a basement or bathroom that wasn't there last month
  • Slow drains in more than one fixture (main line, not the trap)
  • Brown or rust-colored water at any tap (galvanized pipe failing, or a water heater issue)
  • Banging or hammering pipes when a valve closes (water hammer, easy fix if caught early)
  • Toilet rocks when you sit down, or the floor feels soft around the base
  • Pinhole drip on a copper joint in the basement (copper does not heal itself)
  • Faucet handle that takes two hands to close
  • Water pressure that's dropped across the whole house
  • Sump pump that hasn't cycled in months and you can't remember the last time you tested it

SYMPTOM DECODER

Plumbing symptoms and what they usually mean

Most homeowners want to know two things before they call: is this an emergency, and what’s likely behind it? Here’s the dispatch-board decoder we use when we triage a call. Common symptoms, likely causes, and how urgent it actually is. None of it replaces a real diagnosis, but it’ll save you a panic call when the answer turns out to be “tighten the cleanout cap.”

Symptom What it usually means Urgency
Water hammer — loud bang when a faucet shuts off Loose pipe strap or a failed water-hammer arrestor Low — schedule
Faucet sputters, spits air, then runs clean Air in the line; recent main work or a well-pump issue Low — schedule
Brown or rust-colored hot water only Anode rod failed in the water heater Low — schedule
Brown water at every fixture, hot and cold Disturbed sediment in the main, or a town water-quality event Medium — call soon

Low pressure at one fixture only Clogged aerator or partly closed supply valve Low — schedule
Low pressure house-wide Failed pressure regulator or a main-line restriction Medium — call soon
Knocking or rumbling from the water heater Sediment buildup — often fixable with a flush Low — schedule

FAQS

Plumbing questions we hear every week

Real questions from the dispatch board. Short answers. If yours isn't here, call and ask.

What are the signs of a hidden water leak in my house?

A water bill that jumped without a change in usage is the single biggest tell. Other signs: a damp or warm spot on a basement floor or slab, the sound of running water when nothing’s on, a mildewy smell in a room that shouldn’t have one, low pressure at one fixture, or your water meter spinning when every tap is off. Call us and we’ll walk you through a 60-second test you can do before we roll a truck.

Do you fix gas lines?

Yes. We’re licensed for natural gas and propane plumbing in Connecticut. New runs for ranges, dryers, generators, fireplaces, pool heaters, and outdoor grills. We also handle leak repairs and full re-pipes of corroded black iron. Every gas job gets pressure-tested and, where required, permitted and inspected through the town.

How do you scope and quote a sewer line repair in Eastern Connecticut?

Every sewer line job starts with a camera. We run a self-leveling sewer camera the full length of the lateral, mark the depth and location of the problem on the surface with a sonde transmitter, and show you the footage on the spot. From there the scope splits three ways: a spot repair (one section dug and replaced), a lining job (trenchless cured-in-place pipe, where it’s a fit), or a full lateral replacement. The variables that move the number — depth, soil, distance from the house to the main, whether the line runs under a driveway, sidewalk, finished landscaping, or a town road — all need to be seen before we can quote honestly. You get a flat-rate written quote with line items, our CT license number, the dig plan, and the dig permit pulled before any shovel hits the ground.

Do you handle plumbing emergencies after hours?

Yes, 24/7. Burst pipes, no water, sewer backups, gas smells, water-heater failures, frozen lines. Live dispatcher every hour of every day, and a master plumber on the truck inside the hour for confirmed emergencies inside our standard radius (Canterbury, Plainfield, Brooklyn, Norwich, Windham, Pomfret, Killingly, Putnam, and the surrounding Quiet Corner towns). Call (860) 428-9325 or visit our Emergency page.

Are you licensed and insured in Connecticut?

Yes. CT Master Plumber PLM.0288811-P1, CT Master HVAC HTG.0308674-D1, and CT Home Improvement HIC.0631814. Fully insured, bonded, and OSHA-trained. Every dispatched job is supervised or performed by a CT master plumber, not an unsupervised apprentice. License numbers are visible in the footer of every page, and we’ll give you a copy of our certificate of insurance for any job that needs one (rentals, condos, commercial).

How long does a whole-house repipe take?

Most 2-bathroom colonials in the Quiet Corner finish in 2 to 4 days, depending on access. We do it in stages so the water never goes off for more than an afternoon. You keep one functional bathroom and the kitchen sink at all times. PEX is the default for most repipes (faster, fewer fittings, freeze-tolerant); copper is available when code or preference calls for it.

What towns do you serve for plumbing service?

Across the Quiet Corner and Eastern Connecticut: Canterbury (home base), Plainfield, Brooklyn, Scotland, Hampton, Lisbon, Sprague, Griswold, Norwich, Windham, Pomfret, Killingly, Woodstock, Putnam, Sterling, Voluntown, Eastford, Ashford, Chaplin, Lebanon, Franklin, Bozrah, Colchester, Mansfield, Willimantic. If your town’s not on the list, call and ask. We’ve done work outside the standard radius for the right job.

Do you offer a warranty on plumbing work?

Two years on workmanship, full stop. Same crew, same number, no fine print. Parts carry whatever manufacturer warranty applies (typically 1 to 10 years depending on the fixture). If something we installed fails inside the warranty window, you call the office and we make it right. No service-call fee, no diagnostic charge, no “well, it’s been a while…” runaround.
